As a church we remained committed to preaching the Gospel of Jesus by all possible means, and in recognition of this fact we purposely reach out to our surrounding community, speaking up as a voice of truth, justice and love in the midst of a lost generation.
We are committed to social action and outreach work. As a church we have an excellent reputation in the town for communtiy action, and work with all other churches in joint programming and planning. The church is an active member of the local council of churches for Rushden & Higham Ferrers and a key member of the East Northants Faith Group. Our Minister Mark Lees serves part-time as the Development Officer for the ENFG, seeking to fulfil the faithworks charter and see “Faith put back in the heart of the community”.
We are here to serve those most at need within our local community. Whether it’s just to be a listening ear when going through a difficult situation or providing accommodation to help someone get off the streets, we’re here to lend a hand.
East Northants Community Services runs Sanctuary Night Shelter for rough sleepers,Recovery House supporting those with life-controlling addictions, Rushden Food Bank,Cornerfield Café, Stepping Stones moving-on accommodation, a job club and a debt & money advice service.
The Sanctuary is a 6 bed night shelter which offers not just a bed, but real support for individuals who have found themselves homeless. We are open every evening and have a full support team working Monday to Friday 9am – 1pm.
The Support Team is also able to provide information, advice and guidance to anyone who is homeless or threatened with homelessness even if we cannot offer you a bed.
Our aim is to meet the basic 3 days food needs of people in crisis across Rushden & East Northants. Once we have identified people in crisis we will work hard to improve their quality of life. We work closely with local organisations and agencies to reach out and help feed those in need.
Recovery House is a Christian-based residential rehab centre for recovery from life-controlling issues e.g Drugs or Alcohol dependency. We work closely with each of our residents to support each individual according to their recovery needs. The centre has accommodation for a maximum of 6 residents, men only, aged 18+. Our Recovery programme is for 6 months.
The Cornerfield Café is a safe welcoming venue for any and all from the wider community to come and experience a friendly all inclusive cafe service. The café is headed up by our staff and supported by a team of volunteers who are always available to talk and encourage those who just drop in. We serve hot bacon rolls, cooked breakfast, teas and coffees all at incredibly low prices.
